Hanji Art Workshop in Italy

A demonstration and workshop of hanji (Korean paper) production were held on Dec. 13, 2021 at the Paper Lab of the Academy of Fine Art of Rome. The demonstration and workshop were held privately by Jang Eung-yeol, a hanji artisan from Gangwon-do, for about 40 students.
For two days on Dec. 14 and 15, the Korean Cultural Center in Italy held a series of workshops, including ones for making cactus-shaped hanji lanterns, hanji brooches and butterfly-shaped hanji. The workshops provided an opportunity to help Koreans in Italy to understand hanji crafts through various hands-on workshop activities.

Exhibition of Five Hundred Arhats

The exhibition of ¡°Five Hundred Arhats of Changnyeongsa Temple¡± will run at the Powerhouse Museum through May 15. The ¡°Five Hundred Arhats Exhibition¡± is a large-scale hands-on exhibition completed in collaboration with sound designer Oh Yoon-seok, placing 50 Arhat statues and one Buddha statue throughout the work, ¡°Tower,¡± a stack of more than 1,000 speakers by contemporary installation artist Kim Seung-young.
Five Hundred Arhats are stone statues excavated from the old temple site of Changnyeongsa Temple in 2001 to 2002, and have been elaborately restored by Chuncheon National Museum.

Interview with Shea Winter Roggio

Shea Winter Roggio is an American photographer who has shot in many countries including Romania, Guatemala, Jordan, Indonesia, Mongolia and Korea. He traveled to Seoul during the pandemic and visited many places apart from Seoul such as Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do, Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Busan and Jeju Island, documenting his adventures with photos and videos to share on his social media and websites.
He chose a sunset of Busan taken atop Hwangnyeongsan Mountain as his favorite photo. ¡±I just loved the vantage point, the city below, the rolling mountains and even the ocean making a small appearance way off in the distance. I printed this photo to hang in a frame at my office,¡± he explained.
