Talk Talk KOREA 2024 Award Exhibition

Cultural centers worldwide are hosting exhibitions showcasing the winning entries from Talk Talk KOREA 2024. Talk Talk KOREA is the largest Hallyu (Korean Wave) content contest organized by the Korean government for international participants, aiming to promote a positive global image of Korean culture.

The theme for this year¡¯s Talk Talk KOREA, ¡°Experience the Essence of Korea,¡± invited participants to capture the unique beauty and distinctive joys that Korea offers. The contest was divided into five categories: Promotional Videos, Art & Craft, Motion Graphics, Photobooks and Memes & Trends, with a total of 80 winning works selected.

These works provide a glimpse into Korea¡¯s distinctive culture through the eyes of a global audience. From K-pop cover performances and hanbok designs to landscape photography, the diverse range of exhibits promises an engaging and enriching experience for visitors. By highlighting both traditional and contemporary elements, the exhibition aims to inspire and entertain attendees while offering fresh perspectives on Korean culture.

Participating cultural centers include the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam, hosting the exhibition until Feb. 14, the Korean Cultural Center in Belgium until Mar. 31, the Korean Cultural Center in Washington until Feb. 28, the Korean Cultural Center in India from February to May, the Korean Cultural Center in Brazil from Feb. 1 to July at the University of Sao Paulo and Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas, and the Korean Cultural Center in Indonesia until Feb. 16 at the KOREA 360 Main Atrium. Detailed schedules and visitor information for each cultural center will be announced on their respective official websites.

East Asia International Exhibition in TOKYO 2024-2025

The Korean Cultural Center in Tokyo is hosting the East Asia International Exhibition in TOKYO 2024-2025?a collaborative showcase of traditional crafts from Korea, Japan and China. This collaborative exhibition is organized by Korea's The Society of Asian Ethno-Form, Japan's Institute of Eastasia History and Culture and the Korean Cultural Center.

The exhibition features contributions from approximately 68 Korean participants, including holders of Intangible Cultural Heritage, master artisans, professors and their proteges. Joining them are 25 Japanese artists and 10 Chinese artists, bringing the total number of contributors to 103. During the exhibition period, five researchers from Korea and Japan also hosted an international symposium?exploring the techniques, practices and evaluations of traditional crafts.

Visitors have the opportunity to reexamine the traditional craft cultures of Korea, Japan and China. The event also highlights works that reinterpret traditional crafts in modern contexts, offering insights into the current state and future directions of these art forms.

In his remarks, Cultural Center Director Kong Hyung-sik said, ¡°I hope this exhibition sheds light on the current state of traditional crafts in Korea, Japan, and China, countries that have historically been close neighbors, enriching each other's cultures. May it serve as a source of mutual inspiration for further development.¡±

The exhibition, which began on Dec. 19, 2024, will run until Feb. 10, 2025, at the gallery inside the Korean Cultural Center in Tokyo. It is open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, excluding Sundays and public holidays. Admission is free.
