Memil (buckwheat) shows up a lot in Korean cuisine, featuring in a variety of teas, jeon (pancakes), guksu (noodles) and jeonbyeong (crepe). Chuncheon is particularly famous for its memil, which thrives in cooler regions with substantial rainfall, just like the mountains near Chuncheon. Memil grown there serve as the basis for Chuncheon¡¯s cuisine. Chuncheon¡¯s best-known memil dishes are makguksu (buckwheat noodles) and memiljeonbyeong (buckwheat crepe).
