KOREA

November 2022

Museums are the storehouses of human history, knowledge and culture. They are also as diverse as the societies they represent, taking many shapes and forms.
Though many people think of museums as spaces firmly rooted in the past, some museums now look squarely at the future, offering visitors a glimpse into tomorrow.

In this issue of KOREA, we visit a couple of Korea¡¯s most distinctive museums, including Gangwon-do Province¡¯s Youngwol Y Park, an abandoned museum repurposed as a breathtaking cultural complex, and LG Discovery Lab Busan, a renovated technology museum where young visitors can experience the future of artificial intelligence.
We also talk with violinist Bomsori Kim, learn about 1980s Korea through the original Netflix movie ¡°Seoul Vibe,¡± discover the cultural significance of miyeokguk (seaweed soup), and much more.
